Description

Royal Raindrops® Crabapple is a showstopper with deep purple cutleaf foliage that is unlike any other. It will make a stunning statement. The deeply lobed leaves of this crabapple are unlike any other. They look almost like a Japanese maple, which makes it look beautiful all season long. The tree blooms with beautiful bright pinkish-red flowers in the spring, which look amazing against the new purple leaves. The upright, well-branched shape grows to a perfect 20 feet tall and 15 feet wide, making it a great fit for medium-sized yards without taking up too much space. Incredibly hardy to zone 4 (and thriving through zone 8), Royal Raindrops resists common diseases beautifully, so your tree stays healthy and gorgeous with minimal fussing. The unique purple cutleaf leaves make this tree stand out in the landscape and draw the eye right away. This tree is great as a specimen tree, in mixed borders, or anywhere you want year-round drama and beauty that will make your neighbors ask about it.

Please call the Garden Center at (219) 663-1042 or contact us at orders@niemeyerstone.com for inquiries about plants available in our store. Our grower partnership allows us to offer many more varieties online than we are able to carry in our Garden Center.

FAQs

How do I know the size of the plant?

As is typical in Nursery and Garden Center sales, the plants are listed by the size of the container in which they are grown. While we are in the process of standardizing how our plants are listed here online, many of them still have the notations from the grower's availability list. Here are some common ones that you will see on our website:

  • 17cm = about 6.5" diameter = 1 gallon container
  • 19cm = about 7.5" diameter = 1 gallon container
  • G1 = 1 gallon container
  • G2 = 2 gallon container
  • G3 = 3 gallon container

The size of the actual plant will vary greatly based on the plant, season, and growing stage. In some cases we can provide some more details from the grower as requested.
